24.8. Royal Canin European Greyhound Derby 2011



The European Greyhound  Derby and its different divisions is a competition for greyhounds racing under CGRC rules. The European Derby is organized annually in different CGRC member countries and this is the first time that Finland will be hosting the Derby.

 

Royal Canin European Derby 2011, 1st round 

Participants: greyhounds

Distance: 495 m

Entry fee: 56 € (including veterinary fee 5 €)

Prizes: 1. 2000 €, 2. 500 €, 3. 200 €, 4. 100 €, 5. 100 € 6. 100 €

Consolation: 1. 100 €, 2. 50 €, 3. 50 €

 

Competition:

The Royal Canin European Greyhound Derby is a competition for middle- distance runners. For the dogs that are eliminated in the first round there will be a chance to participate in consolation finals.

 

Participation:

Greyhounds that race under CGRC rules in their home countries and have run at least two races with a result are eligible to participate. There will be a ranking list for greyhounds that have signed up for this race and the top 30 on that list will be accepted to the race. The dogs will be divided into qualifying heats using a zig-zag method where the dog with the highest ranking is placed in pool one, the dog with the second highest ranking in pool two and so on. If there are five heats, the dogs with fifth and sixth highest ranking are both placed in in pool five, the dog with the seventh highest ranking in pool four and so on.

 

Racers in reserve:

If a dog that has qualified for the final is not able to participate, there is a reserve of eliminated racers that can take part in the final. This requires that the racing manager is notified about the absence of the finalist before 8 pm on Thursday, August 25th. Therefore, if a dog is not able to run in the finals, the racing manager should be informed immediately. The eliminated racers are listed according to their placing and time in the first round.


EHYT European Greyhound Veteran Derby 2011, 1 st round

Participants: greyhounds

Distance: 325 m

Participant fee: 36 € (including veterinary fee 5 €)

Prizes: 1. 300 €, 2. 150 €, 3. 30 €, 4. 30 €, 5. 30 € 6. 30 €

 

Competition:
The  EHYT European Greyhound Veteran  Derby is a competition for veteran runners that are at least five (5) years old in August 2011.  Six dogs from the first round will race in the Final. Who will make it to the final is based firstly on the dog's placing and secondly on its time in the first round.

 

Participation:

Greyhounds that race under CGRC rules in their home countries and have run at least two races with a result are eligible to participate. There will be a ranking list for greyhounds that have signed up for this race and the top 18 on that list will be accepted to the race. The dogs will be divided into qualifying heats using a zig-zag method. (see explantion under Royal Canin European Derby participation.) The dog  that wants to participate in the Veteran Derby must verifiably be at least five (5) years old  in August 2011. 

 

Racers in reserve:

If a dog that has qualified for the final is not able to participate, there is a reserve of eliminated racers that can take part in the final. This requires that the racing manager is notified about the absence of the finalist before 8pm on Thursday August 25th. Therefore, if a dog is not able to run in the finals, the racing manager should be informed immediately. The eliminated racers are listed according to their placing and time in the first round.


 

Under Armour European Greyhound Sprint Derby 2011, 1 st round.

Participants: greyhounds

Distance: 325 m

Participant fee: 46 € (including veterinary fee 5 €)

Prizes: 1. 400 €, 2. 200 €, 3. 100 €, 4. 30 €, 5. 30€  6. 30 €

 

Competition:

The Under Armour European Greyhound  Sprint Derby is a competition for sprinters.  Six racers from the first rounds will race in the Final. Who will make it to the final is based firstly on the dog's placing and secondly on its time in the first round.

 

Participation:

Greyhounds that race under CGRC rules in their home land and have run at least two races can participate. There will be a ranking list for greyhounds that have signed up for this race and the top 24 on that list will be accepted to the race. The dogs will be divided into qualifying heats using a zigzag method. (See explantion under Royal Canin European Derby, participation.) There will be a consolation final if more than 18 dogs will participate in the race.

 

Racers in reserve:

If a dog that has qualified for the final is not able to participate, there is a reserve of eliminated racers that can take part in the final instead. This requires that the racing manager is notified about the absence of the finalist before 8pm on Thursday, August 25th. Therefore, if a dog is not able to run in the finals, the racing manager should be informed immediately. The eliminated racers are listed according to their placing and time in the first round.

 

 

Vet One European Greyhound Puppy Derby 2011, 1 st round

Participants: greyhounds

Distance: 495 m

Participant fee: 36 € (including veterinary fee 5 €)

Prizes: 1. 300 €, 2. 150 €, 3. 100 €, 4. 30 €, 5. 30€  6. 30 €

 

Competition:

The Vet One European Greyhound  Puppy Derby is a competition for young racers.  Six racers from the first round will race in the Final. The finalists will be chosen based firstly on the dog's placing and secondly on its time in the first round.

 

Participation:

Greyhounds that race under CGRC rules in their home land and have run at least two races and that are verifiably 26 months old or younger in August 2011 can participate. There will be a ranking list for greyhounds that have signed up for this race and the top 30 on that list will be accepted to the race. The dogs will be divided into qualifying heats using a zig-zag method.  (See explantion under Royal Canin European Derby participation.)

 

Racers in reserve:

If a dog that has qualified for the final is not able to participate, there is a reserve of eliminated racers that can take part in the final. Competition:

The Royal Canin European Greyhound Derby Plate 2011 is a competition for those greyhounds that did not qualify for the European Greyhound Derby, 1st round. The Royal canin European Derby 2011 Plate 1st round will be organized if at least seven (7) dogs are entered. If there are less than seven participants but at least three, the race will be run as a  direct Final on August 27th 2011


Participation:
Greyhounds that race under CGRC rules in their home land and have run at least two races can participate. There will be a ranking list for greyhounds that have signed up for this race and the top 12 on that list will be accepted to the race. The dogs will be divided into qualifying heats using a zig-zag method. (See explantion under Royal Canin European Derby participation.)

Royal Canin European Whippet Derby is a competition for the fastest whippets in Europe. Six dogs will qualify to the final from the first round. Who will make it to the final is based firstly on the dog's placing and secondly on its time in the first round. If exactly six dogs are entered in the race it will be run as a direct final on August 27th 2011.

The top six of the whippets that were eliminated in the first round from European Derby or European Veteran Derby can enter the 325m, Teemeri Special on August 27th.

 

Participation:

Whippets that have racing rights in their home countries and have run at least two races are eligible to participate. There will be a ranking list for whippets that have signed up for this race and the top 24 on that list will be accepted to the race. The dogs will be divided into qualifying heats using a zig-zag method.
